Written by Evgeniya “Jane” Kozhevnikova for the 2020 Happy Composer Commission Project, “A Clear Midnight” is a setting of a poem by Walt Whitman (1819-1892). The text tells about the intimate moment of a soul at night, being free of the daily routine and pondering the favorite themes. The music reflects the fragility and beauty of that moment. The piece was premiered by the UF New Music Vocal Ensemble on November 18, 2022.
