Written by Evgeniya “Jane” Kozhevnikova in 2019, “Departure” is a setting of the text by Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892-1950), for SATB and piano (also available for solo voice and piano). Edna St. Vincent Millay, a Pulitzer Prize winner, was a great American poet and playwright. Her poem “Departure” is playful, although with some dark humor that was common for Millay.

The choral version was premiered on September 27, 2019, by Celebris Ensemble (Kalamazoo, Michigan) under the direction of Joel Snyder.

Voice Ranges: Soprano – D4 to E5; Alto – A3 to D5; Tenor – D3 to E4; Bass – F#2 to D4.
